Question 1

Is it free for homeowners to post project requests?

Accepted Answer

Yes, Renov.at is free for homeowners to use. You can post a project request, receive contractor proposals, and use the platform workspace without homeowner platform charges. You must still independently verify any contractor before hiring.

Question 2

Does Renov.at guarantee contractor quality?

Accepted Answer

No. Renov.at is an intermediary platform. We may collect and display contractor profile information, uploaded trade-license status, portfolio projects, and review data, but we do not guarantee, supervise, certify, or control any contractor or renovation work.

Question 3

How does Lead Targeting & Preferences matching work for contractors?

Accepted Answer

Renov.at uses Lead Preferences to control who receives general homeowner requests. Exact area matches are prioritized first. If a contractor selects a city but no specific areas, they are treated as serving every area inside that city. Scope and minimum budget filters also apply. If a contractor leaves all Lead Preferences empty, general leads fall back to wildcard matching, which means they can receive all general marketplace leads until they narrow their settings.

Question 4

Why do you monitor chat conversations on the platform?

Accepted Answer

Platform communications may be monitored and audited for security, fraud prevention, non-circumvention enforcement, and platform safety. This does not mean Renov.at manages the project, resolves disputes, or guarantees transaction safety.

Question 5

How are contractor ratings calculated?

Accepted Answer

We use a dynamic rating calculation that combines platform-submitted reviews after Renov.at project engagements with external Google reviews fetched using a contractor's Google Place ID where available.

Question 6

What community areas in the UAE do you cover?

Accepted Answer

We cover all major residential and commercial areas in the UAE, including Dubai Marina, Jumeirah Lakes Towers (JLT), Palm Jumeirah, Downtown Dubai, Arabian Ranches, Jumeirah Village Circle (JVC), Business Bay, Dubai Hills Estate, Abu Dhabi (Yas Island, Saadiyat Island, Al Reem Island), and Sharjah.

Question 7

Do I need a developer NOC or municipality permit for renovation in Dubai and Abu Dhabi?

Accepted Answer

Most UAE master developers (such as Emaar, Nakheel, Dubai Properties, Aldar, and DAMAC) require a No Objection Certificate (NOC) before contractors can mobilize on-site. Depending on the scope of work, approvals from Dubai Municipality (DM), DDA, Trakhees, Concordia (DMCC/JLT), DEWA, or Civil Defence may also be required. You and your hired contractor are responsible for confirming and obtaining all required permits before starting work.

Question 8

How can I estimate renovation costs in the UAE before requesting quotes?

Accepted Answer

You can browse real completed projects in our Project Catalog with actual AED budgets and timelines, or use our UAE Renovation Cost Calculator, which is calibrated using historical pricing from real projects and accepted proposals on Renov.at.

Question 9

How are renovation contracts and payments handled?

Accepted Answer

Renov.at is an intermediary discovery and quotation platform. Once you compare proposals and choose a contractor, you enter into a direct construction or fit-out contract with that contractor and arrange milestone payments directly with them.
